Enthusiasts and early risers will have the chance to be among the first on board, with services starting from around 5am on Sunday 13 September (this is earlier than normal Sunday times). From the South hop on at Puhinui at 512am or from Henderson at 516am. There will be extra staff at stations to help the first journeys run smoothly.

Auckland’s newest bus station is now open - Westgate Te Waiarohia will be home to some of Auckland’s fastest growing bus routes, including the WX1, 11T and 11W and will make travelling by bus from west and northwest Auckland easier and more convenient, with more services and reliable journey times.

Auckland Councillors have decided to move forward with three possible options for congestion charging during peak hours. These proposed time-of-use charging schemes are expected to decrease peak time congestion by between 2% and 13%. Following public consultation, the preferred option will be chosen in 2027, followed by ratification and ministerial approval in 2028.

The Government will seek an independent detailed business case on a second Harbour Crossing, despite NZTA having completed an investment case in May and endorsing a tunnel as its preferred option. There will be a worldwide search for a person to lead the business case, who will answer to ministers instead of the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA). AT have announced that CRL will open to the public on Sunday 13 September. there will be a new rail network, new timetable, new stations, new frequency, and improved station neighbourhoods. CRL will re-shape the way everyone moves around Auckland.

AT have announced the dates for the CRL "First Look" events. The stations will each have their own open days ahead of CRL going live. The hour long sessions are free for the public but they will be ticketed. Aucklanders can pre-register their interest in these events here. Image RNZ Jessica Hopkins The installation of driver safety screens in Auckland Transport (AT) buses is now complete. The milestone, marks the delivery of a major investment programme led by AT, with funding support from Auckland Council and the Government, to strengthen safety on the public transport network. The programme which began in late 2024 has seen 80% of the AT fleet, the equivalent of 1,080 buses, retrofitted with protective screens.

Highlights for the upcoming month include Matariki events and the return of the inspiring light-based artwork, Whai, which returns to the Gantry. There's an update on Te Ara Tukutuku and the YES market return to Karanga Plaza.
