27 & 28 January 2026 the train network will be closed for the first full trial of the new post-City Rail Link timetable. This milestone test will help ensure reliable, seamless services from the first day of CRL opening. Bus replacements will be very busy, so Auckland Transport is asking commuters to plan their journeys and consider alternatives. Read more details below.

From 1 February 2026, AT’s public transport fares will increase by an average of 5.1%, which means an increase of between 10 and 25 cents per trip for adult fares on buses and trains, or between 40 and 60 cents for adult ferry trips. The price for on-street parking and using AT-managed car parks will also increase on 1 February, rising by 50 cents an hour across the region, excluding areas that have already had a price change over the past year.

Buses are returning to Albert Street after years of CRL construction. AT has announced that Albert Street is set to host about 900 new bus movements a day, from end of November. The WX1 will now have a more direct route into the CBD. AT said 200,000 cubic metres of rock and dirt were removed from Albert Street to build the new CRL underground Te Waihorotiu Station .

The Auckland Urban Development Office (AUDO) has confirmed Stride Property Group (Stride) as the preferred development partner for the future redevelopment of North Wharf in Wynyard Quarter. This milestone marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for one of Auckland’s most iconic waterfront destinations.

The government has announced that "upgraded Auckland public transport network with City Rail Link (CRL) at its heart will open to passengers in the second half of 2026". This probably means that CRL wont be open to the public until August or September 2026.

Te Ara I Whiti, the Lightpath was a bold idea to repurpose a disused motorway off-ramp and turn it into a path for people. Ten years on the glowing pink path, with incredible views is a joyful, iconic part of Auckland. Time-of-use charging, often called congestion charging, aims to encourage drivers to change travel times or use public transport thereby, reducing congestion and boosting productivity. NZTA announced Board approval for the project, and have now shared some early designs for the busway and the new stations. Greater Auckland takes a look at each station from Brigham Creek to the CBD. Following a successful trial, Auckland Transport (AT) is proposing to increase the number of bookable spaces at Albany’s Park and Ride from 5% to around 10% of total capacity There are also other parking changes being proposed for the area.
