Train network CLOSED for testing

PT fares & car parking fees to increase
From 1 February 2026, AT’s public transport fares will increase by an average of 5.1%, which means an increase of between 10 and 25 cents per trip for adult fares on buses and trains, or between 40 and 60 cents for adult ferry trips. The price for on-street parking and using AT-managed car parks will also increase on 1 February, rising by 50 cents an hour across the region, excluding areas that have already had a price change over the past year.

Midtown makeover
Buses are returning to Albert Street after years of CRL construction. AT has announced that Albert Street is set to host about 900 new bus movements a day, from end of November. The WX1 will now have a more direct route into the CBD. AT said 200,000 cubic metres of rock and dirt were removed from Albert Street to build the new CRL underground Te Waihorotiu Station .

Time of use charging bill approved
Image: Michael Craig The new law allowing time of use charging on New Zealand roads was passed in mid November. Time-of-use charging, often called congestion charging, aims to encourage drivers to change travel times or use public transport thereby, reducing congestion and boosting productivity.
