Time of use charging a preferred option

A group of 100 citizens was asked how to fix the city’s transport woes. The University of Auckland ran the forum to try and work out how to meet the goal of a 29% reduction in vehicle kilometres travelled. The most favoured transport solutions included upgrading Auckland’s rail network, making it safer and easier to walk around local areas, providing more buses, a safe and connected bike path network and building more homes close to the city centre. Time of use charging explained saw 40% of the group swapping from being against the idea to being supportive.
