Waitematā Harbour drilling underway

You may have seen the strange looking pontoon (shown above). The Waitematā Harbour Connections (WHC) project are undertaking geotechnical investigations as part of an important step in determining the best long-term solution for an additional harbour crossing. Land based investigations took place late 2024 and geotechnical drilling in Waitematā Harbour started in March 2025.
