NZ Herald has commented that NZTA Waka Kotahi is concerned that if too many people stop driving and use other modes, revenue will be impacted. Waka Kotahi are responsible for managing the National Land Transport Fund (NLTF). The NLTF is made up of fuel taxes, road user charges and registration and licencing costs. If climate change shifts people out of cars then NZTA income would drop. Greater Auckland takes a look at the issues.
