The launch date for the new passenger rail service between Waikato and Auckland – has been confirmed as Tuesday, 6 April 2021. There will be two return services on weekdays to get commuters to Papakura in time for the start of the workday. Departure from Frankton will be at 5.46am and 6.28am, stopping at Rotokauri and Huntly. The return service will depart from Papakura at 4.42pm and 6.25pm. Once in Auckland commuters will transfer to the AT Metro Southern Line and continue on to Auckland’s city centre. The estimated the total journey from Hamilton to Britomart will take 2 hours 30. With free wifi and a cafe bar this sounds like a great option.
