Major changes for AT confirmed

A major shake-up of Auckland Transport has been confirmed, with its core focus to be on delivering public transport services for the city. Auckland Council will become responsible for all transport policy and planning work. The Bill needed to make this happen, will have its first reading in September 2025 and is expected to pass into law by March 2026. After a transition period, the new structures are expected to be in place by September 2026.
