Wayne Brown is suggesting that AC sells its remaining shares in Auckland Airport and offering a 35-year lease to a third party to run the Ports of Auckland (POA). Does the Future Fund even add up? A port lease would lock the containers, cars, etc. into the existing site for the foreseeable future. When Brown stood for mayor in 2022 he was the champion of plans to move the port. There were plans last year to redevelop the POA creating new recreational facilities. Wilson asks will a private developer at the port been keen on that?
