Stuff has reported that Auckland ratepayers will pick up the cost of extending the government’s half-price public transport fare initiative to passengers on the Devonport ferry route, but services to Waiheke Island will stay full price. Minister Michael Wood is frustrated with a long-standing anomaly in which the routes remained as commercial operations, controlled by Fullers360, outside the formal public transport network.
