30,000 drivers have been sent warning letters after being caught in the new Queen Street Essential Vehicle Area. Auckland Transport have improved the signage once and may add more signs, before introducing fine on 5th September. Auckland Council has said the essential vehicle area “will substantially reduce congestion, air and noise pollution, making it safer for pedestrians and micromobility users”.
