PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Getting started

If you are new to using public transport in Auckland, Auckland Transport (AT) has a helpful section to give you the basics includes a Journey Planner, inforamation around fares, and a step-by-step guide on how to use public transport in Auckland and some handy hints. Visit the website here.

Journey planner

​Auckland Trasport (AT) have a great online Journey Planner and the AT Mobile app has real time info and makes planning and tracking your journey really simple.  Get it at the App Store or Google Play

Paying for your trip

You can use an AT HOP card or contactless payment options, such as credit card. Read more about ways to pay here.

 

If you want to load a concession you will need to buy a HOP card – check out more about that here.​​

AT have a Fare Cap where no one pays more than $50 for PT trips taken over 7 days.  Ride with your AT HOP card and enjoy unlimited travel on AT buses, trains and inner harbour ferries. See here for conditions and details.  For access to the Fare Cap scheme you will need to pay with an AT HOP card, it won't work when using contactless payment options.

Accessible public transport travel

BIKE, WALK OR SCOOT

Bike, walk or scoot

Walking, cycling and scootering is a great way to get exercise and also means you won’t get caught up in any traffic jams.  Your commute will take you pretty much the same time every day, it is easier on your pocket and the environment.  You won’t have to worry about traffic congestion or parking fees.  There is lots of information on the Auckland Transport website, including details of safe routes, cycling events and courses and much more – see here for details

COMMUTING BY CAR

Commuting by car

There are public car parks and limited paid on-street parking available in Wynyard Quarter. 

​

Jellicoe Street car park has a maximum 4 hour stay at $7 per hour 

​

Wynyard car park is $6 per 30 minutes ($54 max per day).

 

Wilson Parking have a couple of options with rates from $14 per hour 

​

Parking rates for on-street parking are $4.50 per hour for the first 2 hours then $8 per hour for each subsequent hour.  All on-street parking spaces are covered by pay by plate or you can use the AT Park app

​

Disability Car Parking

Disability car parking is available in the Jellicoe Street Carpark at the end closest to Silo Park.
