Getting started
If you haven't used public transport for your commute before we want to make it easy for you. Auckland Transport (AT) has a great journey planner, information on fares and a step-by-step guide on how to use public transport. Visit the AT website here.
Plan your commute
The AT journey planner makes planning your commute really easy. This can be done online or download the mobile app from the App Store or Google Play The app allows you to track your bus, train or ferry in real time, so no wasting time standing at the bus stop. You can also find shared cars and scooters on this app. Check out this video on how to use the AT mobile app.
Paying for your trip
You can use an AT HOP card or contactless payment options, such as credit card. Read more about ways to pay here.

Fare Cap
AT have a Fare Cap scheme where no one pays more than $50 for PT trips taken over 7 days. Ride with your AT HOP card and enjoy unlimited travel on AT buses, trains and inner harbour ferries. See here for conditions and details.
For access to the Fare Cap scheme you will need to pay with an AT HOP card, it won't work when using contactless payment options.

Subsidised Public Transport
Some businesses offer their staff subsidised public transport. This could be via the AT Fareshare scheme, or Extraordinary. You can find out more by clicking on the links and ask your employer if they offer these benefits.

BIKE, WALK OR SCOOT
Walk or run
Almost every journey starts and ends with a walking trip. Walking or running to work is a low-cost way of keeping fit. By getting off the bus a stop early you can get some exercise and this can help clear your head before a busy day. You can calculate how far you have walked or run on this free website

Ask your workplace about showers, lockers and drying rooms which you can use to make your commute more comfortable. These are called end of trip facilities and are free for staff to use.




COMMUTING BY CAR
Commuting by car
There are public car parks and limited paid on-street parking available in Wynyard Quarter.

Jellicoe Street car park has a maximum 4 hour stay at $7 per hour
​
Wynyard car park is $6 per 30 minutes ($54 max per day).
Wilson Parking have a couple of options with rates from $14 per hour
Parking rates for on-street parking are $4.50 per hour for the first 2 hours then $8 per hour for each subsequent hour. All on-street parking spaces are covered by pay by plate or you can use the AT Park app

Accessible Car Parking
Accessible parking is available in the Jellicoe Street carpark at the end closest to Silo Park.
